The University of Louisville's Emily Juhl was selected as the 2013-14 American Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award winner for volleyball.
The Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Awards are given to one student-athlete in each American Athletic Conference-sponsored sport based on academic credentials, athletic accolades or performances and volunteer service to the community. Student-athletes who have attained junior academic standing and a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 are eligible.
In her senior season, Juhl (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) was a unanimous first team All-American Athletic Conference selection after leading the Cardinals in points scored. The three-time all-conference honoree became the 16th Cardinal to join the 1K Kill Club and was named American Player of the Week on Nov. 11, 2013.
In addition to her accomplishments on the court, Juhl was also successful in the classroom, earning the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Award and the Academic Services Postgraduate Scholarship. She is currently studying at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry.
The Cardinals posted a 23-8 overall record and went 18-0 in the American Athletic Conference en route to the league's regular season title and UofL's 16th consecutive NCAA appearance.
