
Volleyball Posts Perfect APR

Nine University of Louisville athletic teams, including Cardinal volleyball posted a perfect score in the most recent single-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) data released by the NCAA.
The nine UofL sports -- including five women's and four men's -- with a perfect 1000 APR score for the most recent 2012-13 single-year figures include men's basketball, football, men's golf, women's golf, women's lacrosse , softball, women's soccer, men's tennis and volleyball.
UofL's men's basketball and women's golf teams are among the top 10 percent in their respective sports in the latest multiyear APR, which measures academic eligibility, retention and graduation for student-athletes. Both sports have a perfect 1000 score for the four-year period from 2009-13 and received public recognition from the NCAA last week.
The men's basketball team earned a record 3.40 collective grade point average for the 2013-14 academic year, the highest ever for the UofL men's basketball team. The team produced a record 3.47 combined GPA for the 2013 fall semester, the highest ever semester average for the Cardinals and the best among UofL's nine men's sports programs. For the 2014 spring semester, the team posted a combined 3.37 GPA, with 10 of 14 Cardinals earning a 3.0 or better, including eight above a 3.5 GPA. The men's basketball team has been around a collective 3.0 GPA for 12 straight semesters.
Over the last four seasons, a total of 106 football student-athletes have earned their degrees, including 29 student-athletes for this current academic year. A record 34 students were named American Athletic Conference academic award winners this season, honoring those with a 3.0 GPA for the year.
All of the 23 Cardinals sports teams -- including 10 men's and 13 women's sports -- have a four-year APR score above 930 and none are subject to any penalties.
