
Women's Golf Wins the American Athletic Conference Championship

The University of Louisville women's golf team captured the American Athletic Conference Championship, defeating UCF by one stroke on Tuesday afternoon at the Hammock Beach Resort. The Cardinals shot a 299 in the final round for a score of 915, while UCF finished second with a score of 916.
Junior Emily Haas made a 10-footer on the final hole for birdie, helping the Cardinals capture their fifth conference championship. Haas shot a team low 71 in the final round to finish runner-up with a score of 223. SMU's Jenny Haglund took medalist honors with a score of 218.
"It feels pretty good," said head coach Courtney Trimble. "I am just excited for this team, they played so great today. The win was a total team effort."
SMU finished third with a score of 928 while Memphis finished fourth with a score of 939. South Florida finished fifth with a score of 944, Cincinnati finished sixth with a score of 950, while Rutgers finished seventh with a score of 991.
Sophomore Laura Restrepo finished tied for seventh with a score of 229. Restrepo carded a 77 in the final round. Senior Tara Lyons shot a 75 in the final round. Lyons finished tied for 10th with a score of 231.
Junior Katie Petrino moved up four spots to finish tied for 12th with a score of 234. Petrino shot a 76 in the final round. Freshman Shannon Gramley shot a 79 in the final round. She finished tied for 17th with a score of 236.
With the win the Cardinals earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Championship held on May 8-10. Louisville will find out their destination to one of the three NCAA Regional locations on April 28.
