
Women's Tennis Heads to Texas for Two Matches

The University of Louisville women's tennis team heads to Denton, Texas this weekend to take on North Texas and Denver in consecutive days. First, on Friday, Mar. 7, the Cards face the host Mean Green at 2 p.m. EST, then the Denver Pioneers on Saturday, Mar. 8 at noon EST.
In their last outing, Feb. 28, the Cards defeated Eastern Kentucky by a final score of 6-1. Louisville swept the doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead over the Colonels, and continued the attack in singles play. The Cards were victorious in all but one. U of L is now 7-2 overall on the season and has won six matches in a row.
North Texas comes in to the match with Louisville on a three-match win streak that saw it defeat No. 70 TCU, 4-3, in Fort Worth, Texas in its last outing on Mar. 5. The Mean Green got off to a quick start winning the doubles point, but had to fight to hold off the Horned Frogs for the close win.
Denver travels to Denton, Texas with a 3-6 overall record, but won its last match, 4-3, against New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M. on Feb. 25. The Pioneers took the doubles point early on, but the Lobos came back taking the first two singles matches. Denver regrouped and clinched with the No. 1 spot.
The Cardinals will continue their road trip next week with a visit to the West Coast at San Diego State on Mar. 14 at 5 p.m. EST.
