The No. 14 ranked University of Louisville women's swim team will host long-time rival as the No. 24 ranked Notre Dame women's team visits the Ralph Wright Natatorium Saturday at 11 a.m.
The two former Big East rivals may belong to different conferences, but the two had eight years of going head to head in their former conference. The Cards prevailed the last three years, but the Irish have a total of 13 Big East titles.
The U of L women are coming off a pair of wins last weekend when the Cards downed AAC foes Cincinnati and Houston. U of L beat Houston 210-85 and Cincinnati 211-84 in an American Athletic Conference double dual meet last Saturday afternoon in the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
The Cardinal highlights include multiple wins from Kelsi Worrell (400-medley relay, 200-fly, 100-free), Krissie Brandenburg (50-free. 400-medley relay) and Tanja Kylliainen (200-breast, 400-IM).
U of L's Kelsi Worrell is ranked nationally in the 200-fly (3rd), 100-fly (6th), and 50-free (16th). Tanja Kylliainen is also nationally ranked in the top 25 with an 8th ranking in the 400-IM. The Cards have nationally ranked relay teams in the 200-free relay (14th), 800-free relay (15th), 200-medley relay (11th) and 400-medley relay (19th).
The Irish are headlined by Emma Reany. A two-time All-American and five-time honorable mention All-American, Reaney has won 26 of the 34 finals swims she has competed in. Nationally, Reaney is on the nation's top times list as she leads the country in the 200 breast (2:05.85) and is sixth in the 100 breast (59.22) and 200 IM (1:55.18). She also shows up in the relay top times with her Irish teammates in the 200 free (24th - 1:31.55) and 200 (21st - 1:39.80) and 400 medleys (16th - 3:36.84).
