Following the fourth week of action across The American, weekly honors were awarded with Univeristy of Louisville freshman Maya McClendon being awarded Freshman of the Week.
McClendon spurred Louisville to two important victories as the Cardinals hosted the Active Ankle Challenge. Led by McClendon's play, Louisville snapped a five-game losing streak, their longest in 14 years, with defeats of Rice and Virginia Tech. The freshman recorded 21 kills on the weekend, including a double-double against the Hokies with 14 kills and 11 digs, the third double-double of her young career.
Senior middle blocker Brooke Mattingly was named to the American Honor Roll. She was named the MVP of the Active Ankle Challenge after hitting .532 overall in the two victories. Mattingly averaged 3.62 kills per set along with nine total blocks, and had a career-high 20 kills against Virginia Tech.
