As I'm sitting here tonight writing this blog, thinking about all of the funny and ridiculous things that took place during another day of our preseason routine, I can't help but to be driven in a direction of grief from the loss of a new friend to me, an old friend to others due to an incredible new job opportunity.
I know most of these blogs are supposed to be funny; however, the very last moment of our third day of preseason spent together we left each other in tears from one single, hand typed letter signed Ben Felz, our trainer who left to be a part of the Minnesota men's basketball staff.
Up until those last moments, the entire day was like any other, besides the earliest 5:30AM breakfast of our lives. Our practices were amazing.Effort was 110% and always competitive. Our team continued to be as gaseous as ever, so ladylike, I know. And our ice baths, if you can imagine 8 people per ice bath, we have to get really creative with how we can fit ourselves in there.
And then we decided to try and throw a Gatorade bucket full of our body soaked ice bath water on Ben to celebrate his last day with us. That went really well, it only took an hour to execute. And then he proceeded to cuss out out in that crazy, southern, Django accent that makes us all die laughing all the time.
Overall, today was another great day, and with that letter we have another chance to realize how lucky we are to have such an amazing staff.
