LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville athletics department has released details of the 2013 baseball promotional schedule, which includes numerous fan-friendly special events and season-long promotions at the newly expanded Jim Patterson Stadium.
The 36-game home schedule at Patterson Stadium features exciting giveaways, the return of many fan favorites and the introduction of new special offers, which allow fans to experience everything the ballpark has to offer at exceptional values.
The fun will begin during the 2013 home-opener against Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 20 at 3 p.m., ET when fans can celebrate the opening of the Louisville baseball program's 96th season and the ninth season calling Patterson Stadium home. Along with the pregame festivities and introductions prior to first pitch, the first 300 fans through the gates will receive the exclusive 2013 Louisville baseball schedule poster featuring the three Cardinal seniors.
2013 Special Events
Hard Hat Giveaway: March 9 vs. Alabama, 1 p.m.
Commemorate the newly expanded Jim Patterson Stadium with a new hart hat stress toy. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a hard hat toy. Plus fans can check out the stadium's new offerings including Bird Head sculpture featuring more than 500 signed baseballs from Cardinal fans and supporters.
Elementary School Day: March 13 vs. Purdue, Noon
Hosting its fourth annual event, Louisville Baseball is excited to welcome more than 30 area schools for Elementary School Day. Combining the best of baseball and education, the day will highlight the importance of healthy eating habits and physical fitness while teaching good sportsmanship behavior. MLB's Pitch, Hit, & Run: March 30 vs. Notre Dame, 1 p.m.
Join in Major League Baseball's Pitch, Hit & Run competition and have a chance to reach the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game! PHR is a FREE, exciting skills event for boys and girls where participants have the opportunity to compete in four levels of competition. Louisville will host a local competition for kids ages 7 to 13. The event requires pre-registration (beginning in early March) and will be conducted on the field following the UofL-UND contest.
Patriotic Game: April 12 vs. Elon, 6 p.m.
To honor those who serve and have served our country, Louisville Baseball will salute the men and women of the Armed Forces and Louisville-area First Responders during the annual "Patriotic Game". The Cardinals will wear commemorative jerseys and hats with a unique patriotic Cardinal logo during the game and fans are encouraged to wear their Red, White, and Blue in support of the event.
Louisville Legends Game: April 27 vs. Georgetown, 1 p.m.
During this special event, Cardinal baseball will turn back the clock to celebrate its more than 100 years of baseball history by honoring great teams and alumni, our "Louisville Legends". Pregame festivities and special offerings will be included.
Cancer Awareness Night: May 8 vs. Indiana, 6 p.m.
Join Louisville Baseball for their annual Cancer Awareness Night as the Cardinals continue their commitment to generating awareness for cancer research programs. Louisville will wear special black jerseys and hats featuring pink lettering during the game and fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of cancer awareness. Pink lemonade will be sold with $1 from every sale going to support Home Runs for Hope, a fundraiser with all of the proceeds benefiting Gilda's Club of Louisville.
2013 Season-Long Promotions

Louisville Athletics is committed to providing the best fans with the best college baseball experience. SATURDAY: BBQ on the Berm
With perfect views of the action and close access to the Sun Tan City Patio and playground, who would ever leave the outfield berm? Now you can enjoy $3.00 burgers and drink specials every Saturday afternoon with BBQ on the Berm. EVERY SATURDAY!
SUNDAY: Dr. Bizer's Vision World Family Fun Day
Join in on all of the fun every Sunday this season! All seven Sunday home games will feature special family entertainment and activities presented by Dr. Bizer's Vision World including inflatable jumpies. Also, kids can run the bases after the game and select players will sign autographs on the field. Plus dollar hot dogs will be available at the concessions. EVERY SUNDAY!
Cardinal Cap Day
Wear your Cardinal hat to the ballpark and get rewarded! On select Saturdays this season, fans who enter the stadium wearing any Louisville hat will receive a voucher for free 32oz. tub of popcorn. This new promotion is scheduled for February 23, March 2, March 9, March 16.
T-Shirt Tuesdays
Cardinal fans should look like Cardinal fans. So, Louisville Baseball is making sure you are decked out in the latest gear with T-Shirt Tuesdays courtesy of Adidas, Class Act, and Dr. Bizer's Vision World. On select Tuesday nights, the first fans through the gates will receive a specially designed Louisville Baseball t-shirt. Don't' miss this exciting giveaway on April 2, April 30, and May 8.
Baseball Trading Cards Giveaway
Looking to get your hands on the limited edition 2013 Louisville Baseball trading cards? Well here is your chance! The trading cards feature student-athletes and coaches from the 2013 team and a specially-released Louisville Legends card with famous Cardinal alumni. Collect all five packs throughout the season! Ten cards will be given out each day on March 19, March 28, April 14, April 27, and May 16.

About Louisville Baseball
With the program's highest ranking in school history at No. 4 in the Baseball America Preseason Top 25, the Cardinals return 21 letterwinners from the 2012 team, which finished 41-22 and advanced to an NCAA Regional for the fifth time in six seasons. In his six previous seasons leading the Cardinals, head coach Dan McDonnell is 258-122 with three BIG EAST regular-season titles, two BIG EAST Tournament titles, two NCAA Super Regional appearances and one College World Series berth.
Selected as the BIG EAST Conference favorite by the league's head coaches, Louisville won its third BIG EAST regular season title in the last four seasons in 2012. The Cardinals are led in 2013 by the return of seven of its school record 10 All-BIG EAST performers from last season, including second team outfielders Adam Engel and Cole Sturgeon. Most of Louisville's pitching staff returns for 2013, led by All-BIG EAST right-hander Jeff Thompson as well as BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and Freshman All-American righty Jared Ruxer.
Louisville will open the 2013 season on Feb. 15 against Indiana (7:30 p.m., ET) in Dunedin, Fla., at the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge. The Cardinals' 36-game home slate at the newly expanded Jim Patterson Stadium is set to open on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 3 p.m., ET against Eastern Kentucky.
