For the first time in program history, the University of Louisville women's tennis team has two players ranked in the top 100 going into the dual match season. Junior Rebecca Shine clocks in at No. 62 and teammate and fellow junior, Julia Fellerhoff is ranked No. 84 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
" I would like to congratulate Julia and Becca on their latest accomplishment in the national rankings. Both achieved the highest singles rankings in school history," said U of L head coach Mark Beckham. "These are rankings they earned for their play this past Fall, so that makes it an even greater accomplishment as far as I am concerned because it is directly comes from their results for the Fall semester, it wasn't voted on, it was earned! This is obviously the first time Louisville has had multiple players ranked in the top 100 at the same time, so this is another step toward us becoming a national program year in and year out. They are going to lead us to some great things this season and hopefully they have positioned themselves to play in the individual National Championships at the end of the season as well."
