Hi! It's Katie George blogging for you!
Today was a great first day for the Cardinal Volleyball Team. We, the team, as well as the coaching staff and support staff have been itching to get back in the gym to start training for this season. The excitement and anticipation was definitely noticeable this morning at our morning session. There was so much enthusiasm and intensity in the gym. It was an atmosphere any collegiate volleyball player would be thrilled to play in.
We started with defense this morning and we broke down many different defense and passing techniques, which the team really started getting the hang of throughout the day. We were all over the place, cleaning up the gym floor with our rolls! I think Coach Anne Kordes, Coach Lee Maes and Melissa were very pleased in the effort that we, as a team, brought to our first day of training.
We followed up our first session with a quick lift at the Marshall Center, some treatment back at Yum! and then lunch at The Ville Grill. Our break was short and sweet because we were back in action for session number two an hour later.
We played a bunch in session two and it was very competitive, which was awesome to see and be apart of. We established many of the new techniques that we learned in the morning into our play in the afternoon. We had a good time competing this afternoon. Once we finished, we got treated again and went to dinner. We finished the night with a team meeting to discuss some of the techniques and defenses that we had been covering that day.
All in all it was a great first day. I think everyone in the Louisville Volleyball Program is very happy with the work put in on our first day of preseason. With that said, we now know the potential and expectations that are expected of us, which will only guarantee a great preseason.
