Louisville Sophomore RHP Dace Kime
"Compared to some earlier outings, I thought I pitched really well because I was able to sustain it over four innings. In talking with Coach Mac and Coach Williams, one of the big things was being able to stay mentally focused. In some of my last few outings, I've been able to get some big outs, but an inning comes where there's no pressure and nobody on base and I relax too much. It was a big step for me today to come out focused every inning and throw strikes."
"To finish off what could be a great week for us, we must keep the energy level high tomorrow. There have been so many games, whether it's a Friday game or a big mid-week game where our energy is high and we play well, but we don't sustain that through the week or through the weekend. If we come out with great energy tomorrow, it could lead to another good outing."
Louisville Sophomore INF Ty Young
"On the triple, I was down two strikes but I stayed with the approach the coaches have been teaching us all season. I got a breaking ball and was able to drive it for a triple. On the home run, they had been starting my at-bats with fastballs so I thought they'd try to get ahead of me with another one there and I was able to jump on the first pitch."
"I think two big factors from where I was at last season to where I am now are my approach at the plate and my fitness. I've gotten a lot stronger and faster, but more than that has been my approach. Last year, I was a little tentative when I got in the box and tried to guess what pitches were coming. This year, I've been thinking fastball early in the count and with two strikes, I've learned that I have to battle and win the at-bat."
