Louisville Head Coach Dan McDonnell
"It was a great week for us and I thought it was our first great week of the season where we went undefeated. It begins with starting pitching and we got four quality starts this week from (Jared) Ruxer, (Justin) Amlung, (Jeff) Thompson, and (Travis) Tingle. When we get quality starts with the way we're scoring early in the game and with the strength and depth in our bullpen, we feel like we have a chance to win a lot of games."
"I challenged these guys before the week started and I'm proud of them because of the effort they gave and the consistency they showed throughout the week. Hopefully, their focus and attention is already on the week ahead because it's going to be challenging with the road game at Purdue and our second BIG EAST series at home."
"Cole (Sturgeon) is a great student and he's a great athlete. On the field, he's that guy who can pitch, hit and play defense, which is why we recruited him. We thought he was the best player in the state of Kentucky coming out of high school and he's showing that now. He's showing that he's one of the most well-rounded players in college baseball because he can do so much. He's a leadoff guy that we bat ninth. He can drive in runs, which he showed today with the five RBI. He can start on the mound if we need him to start or he could even close, but right now, he fits our staff by coming out of the bullpen in the middle of the game."
"Today, we used Cole with the bases loaded and only one out for the first time. It was something we had considered previously but hadn't done. He's looked so good on the mound lately, so Coach Williams and I felt like we needed to give him the ball in that situation. He didn't surprise us with the back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning and we're really pleased with how he's playing offensively, defensively and on the mound."

"Lately, I've been struggling at the plate and pulling off a little bit. I made a slight change to my approach by focusing more on going the other way and staying through the ball and it worked out for me today."
"Coming into that bases loaded situation, you have to throw strikes and that's the main thing. You can't get behind in the count and you have to pitch from ahead. If you can control the count, you can throw your pitches and have success."
"Coach Mac has preached to us all year that we've had good weeks but that we need to have great weeks. We had a great week this week going undefeated and sweeping the opening week of conference play. Tuesday is a huge game at Purdue. We know it and they know it. We must come out focused and we can't lose our edge."
