The University of Louisville women's tennis team took the doubles point and then four of six singles to score a 5-2 win over San Diego State Thursday night in San Diego, Calif.
Rebecca Shine and Manuela Velasquez struck first with an 8-0 sweep of Julia Wais and Alicia Aguilar at No. 2. Sarah Miller and Julia Fellerhoff clinched the point with an 8-5 win at No. 3. SDSU's Roxanne and Sierra Ellison edged Gabrielle Duncan and Amelia Harris 8-7 at No. 1.
The Aztecs tied the score when Julia Wais beat Julia Fellerhoff 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1. Rebecca Shine took the lead back with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 2. Mandy Brown won at No. 4 spot in a three setter before Amelia Harris clinched the match with a 7-6, 6-2 win over Roxanne Ellison at No. 5.
The Cardinals are now 6-7 on the year and are idle until they face Xavier at 3 p.m. March 23 at the Bass- Rudd Tennis Center.
