LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville athletics department has numerous special events and season-long promotions scheduled for the 2012 baseball season and all of the details have been released.
The 33-game home schedule at Jim Patterson Stadium features great giveaways, the return of fan favorites and the introduction of special offers, which allow fans to experience all the ballpark's offerings at exceptional values.
The fun will begin during the 2012 home-opener against Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 22 at 3 p.m., ET when fans can celebrate the opening of the Louisville baseball program's 95th season and the eighth season calling Patterson Stadium home. Along with the pregame festivities and introductions prior to first pitch, the first 500 fans through the gates will receive the exclusive 2012 Louisville baseball schedule poster featuring the four Cardinal seniors.
2012 Special Events
Elementary School Day: March 14 vs. Ole Miss, Noon
Hosting its third annual event, Louisville baseball is excited to welcome more than 20 area schools for Elementary School Day. Combining the best of baseball and education, the day will highlight the importance of healthy eating habits and physical fitness while teaching good sportsmanship behavior. The kids will enjoy lots of activities and see the Cardinals battle the Ole Miss Rebels. Click here for additional information.
Cancer Awareness Night: April 3 vs. WKU, 6 p.m.
Join Louisville baseball for their annual Cancer Awareness Night as the Cardinals continue their commitment to generating awareness for cancer research programs. Louisville will wear special black jerseys and hats featuring pink lettering during the game and fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of cancer awareness. Pink lemonade will be sold with $1 from every sale going to support Home Runs for Hope, a fundraiser with all of the proceeds benefiting Gilda's Club of Louisville.
Patriotic Game: April 13 vs. Seton Hall, 6 p.m.
To honor those who serve and have served our country, Louisville baseball will salute the men and women of the Armed Forces and Louisville-area First Responders during the annual "Patriotic Game" at Jim Patterson Stadium. The Cardinals will wear commemorative jerseys and hats with a unique patriotic Cardinal logo during the game and fans are encouraged to wear their Red, White and Blue in support of the event.
Louisville Legends Weekend: April 27-29 vs. UConn
During this weekend-long event, Cardinal baseball will turn back the clock to celebrate its more than 100 years of baseball history by honoring great teams and alumni, our "Louisville Legends." Special recognition will be held for both the 1957 and 2002 teams. Celebrating their 55th anniversary, the Cardinal Nine of 1957 was the first team in school history to go undefeated at 15-0. Ten years ago, Louisville earned its first ever NCAA Regional bid, capping a record-breaking season in 2002. Pregame festivities and special offerings, including retro Cardinal gear will be included.

Louisville athletics is committed to providing the best fans with the best college baseball experience. With unprecedented access to the nationally-ranked Cardinals, the University of Louisville will once again offer free admission to home games this season! The lone exception is the April 24 contest vs. Kentucky, which will include $10 reserved seating to accommodate the high demand. Bring the whole family and enjoy FREE baseball when you visit Jim Patterson Stadium.
FRIDAY: Budweiser Buck Night
Come thirsty and leave happy on Budweiser Buck Nights! Every Friday, fans can purchase draft beer and small Pepsi products for just $1 each throughout the ballpark courtesy of Budweiser. Get the weekend series started off right with this fan-favorite dollar deal!
SUNDAY: Dr. Bizer's Vision World Family Fun Day
Join in on all of the fun every Sunday this season! All eight Sunday home games will feature special family entertainment and activities presented by Dr. Bizer's Vision World including inflatable jumpies. Also, kids can run the bases after the game and select players will sign autographs on the field. Plus, a special "Family Four-Pack" will be available at the concessions as families can purchase four hot dogs, four 12oz. sodas, and a tub of popcorn for just $20.
TUESDAY: Buckhead Mountain Grill Dollar Dog Day
A ballpark hot dog has never tasted better than on Tuesdays. Back by popular demand, fans can purchase hot dogs for only $1 each during every Tuesday home game thanks to Buckhead Mountain Grill. Limited to two per visit and while supplies last.
Cardinal Cap Day
Wear your Cardinal hat to the ballpark and get rewarded! On select Saturdays this season, fans who enter the stadium wearing any Louisville hat will receive a voucher for free 32oz. tub of popcorn. This new promotion is scheduled for March 3, March 17 and March 24.
T-Shirt Tuesdays
Cardinal fans should look like Cardinal fans. So, Louisville baseball is making sure you are decked out in the latest gear with T-Shirt Tuesdays courtesy of Penn Station, Adidas and Dr. Bizer's Vision World. On select Tuesday nights, the first fans through the gates will receive a specially designed Louisville baseball t-shirt. Don't miss this exciting giveaway on March 13, March 20 and April 24.
Baseball Trading Cards Giveaway
Looking to get your hands on the limited edition 2012 Louisville baseball trading cards? Here is your chance! The trading cards feature student-athletes and coaches from the 2012 team and a specially-released Louisville Legends card with famous Cardinal alumni. Collect all five packs throughout the season! Ten cards will be given out each day on March 2, March 18, March 31, April 28 and May 11.
About Louisville Baseball
Led by the return of preseason All-American pitcher and All-BIG EAST performer Justin Amlung, Louisville welcomes back nearly the entire pitching staff and numerous position players with starting experience from last year's squad. Overall, the Cardinals return 19 letterwinners from the 2011 team, which finished 32-29 overall, while adding a talented class of newcomers for 2012.
Ranked as highly as No. 15 in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper preseason poll, the Cardinals are ranked in the top 25 in four different major preseason polls and will enter the season ranked in the top 25 for the fourth straight season.
Head coach Dan McDonnell is in his sixth season leading the Louisville baseball program. In his five previous seasons, McDonnell is 217-106 with two BIG EAST regular-season titles, two BIG EAST Tournament titles, four NCAA Regionals, two NCAA Super Regionals and one College World Series.
Louisville will open the 2012 season on Feb. 17 at 10 a.m., ET against Minnesota in Clearwater, Fla., on day one of the Big Ten/BIG EAST Challenge. The Cardinals will conclude the weekend against Illinois (Feb. 18, 4 p.m.) and Michigan State (Feb. 19, 10 a.m.) before returning to Louisville for the home-opener on Feb. 22.
