
Swimming and Diving Complete Day 1 at Purdue Invitational

The No. 23 University of Louisville men's swimming and diving team has taken an early lead at the Purdue Invite. The Cardinals recorded 266 points on day one to place them ahead of all six schools. The No. 17 Louisville women's swimming and diving team also positioned themselves in the lead after recording 302.5 points on the first day.
For the men, the No. 25 Purdue Boilermakers posted a total of 245 points on day one. In third, was the University of Utah who tallied 145 points, followed by Missouri State with 99 points, Southern Illinois with 82 points, and in sixth Cincinnati with 54 points. The No. 1 Michigan Wolverines, which sent a limited squad, finished the day in seventh after recording 37 points.
For the women, the No. 20 Purdue Boilermakers are in second with a total of 301 points and trail the Cards by just 1.5 points. In third is the University of Utah with 128.5 points, followed by Cincinnati with 65 points, Missouri State with 63 points, and Southern Illinois in sixth with 53 points. The No. 22 Michigan Wolverines finished the day in seventh having recorded 23 points.
In the women's 500-free, Abigail Chin touched first in the A-Final with a time of 4:46.02. In fourth was Victoria Mitchell, touching the wall at 4:51.53. Devon Bibault posted a time of 4:51.61, good for fifth. Lindsey LaPorte took first in the C-Final with a time of 4:59.52.
For the men's 500-free, in the A-Final Bryan Draganosky touched in second with a time of 4:25.51. For the Cards, Charlie Bolgan came in fourth in the B-Final with a time of 4:32.37 and in the C-Final Kevin Bandy touched in second (4:33.76).
In the women's 200-IM, Tanja Kylliainen won the A-Final with a time of 1:59.54, followed by Abigail Chin in second at 2:00.39. Devon Bibault came in fourth (2:02.08) and Erica Belcher touched sixth (2:03.37). In the B-Final Gisselle Kohoyda took second in 2:05.01. Jackie Sherrard touched in fourth in the C-Final at 2:06.89.
For the men in the 200-IM, Alex Burtch won the A-Final with a time of 1:48.59. He was followed by Nolan Tesone in second (1:48.71), Evan Noble in fourth (1:50.71), Michael Haefner in fifth (1:50.81), and Albert Lloyd in seventh (1:51.00). In the B-Final, Addison Bray touched first in 1:49.38 and Brett MacKenzie came in third at 1:51.49.
In the women's 50-free, Kelsi Worrell tied for second (22.79) and Krissie Brandenburg cam in fourth (22.86) in the A-Final. In the B-Final, Grite Apanaviciute won with a time of 23.42 and was followed by Rachael Lewis in 23.64. Mary Mittel took the C-Final with a time of 23.94.
For the men's 50-free, Joao De Lucca won the A-Final touching the wall in 19.81. In the C-Final, Rudy Edelen touched second in 20.96 and in third was Pedro Coutinho with a time of 21.17.
In the 200-free relay, Kelsi Worrell, Eszter Povazsay, Rachael Lewis, and Krissie Brandenburg touched in second with a time of 1:31.50 in the A-Final. In the B-Final, Breann McDowell, Grite Apanaviciute, Brittany Robinson, and Mary Mittel took first with a time of 1:35.70.
Louisville took first in the A-Final, B-Final, and C-Final of the 200-free relay. In the A-Final, Caryle Blondell, Samuel Hoekstra, Kameron Chastain, and Joao De Lucca touched in 1:18.48. Lemar Linton, Aaron Young, Albert Lloyd, and Alex Burtch took the B-Final in 1:21.91. Nathan Kinney, Rudy Edelen, Pedro Coutinho, and Ben Ogle took the C-Final with a time of 1:23.64.
In the women's 400-medley relay, Louisville won both the A-Final (3:38.60) and B-Final (3:44.06). The Louisville men also took the 400-medley relay with a time of 3:15.26.
In the women's 3-mtr diving, Hannah Gadd came in second with a score of 320.05.
