
Men's Soccer Travels to Syracuse on Saturday

Louisville, Ky. - The Louisville men's soccer team will travel to Syracuse on Saturday, Oct. 6 to continue league play against the Orange at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals enter the match with a 2-1-0 league record while Syracuse also enters the match with a 2-1-0 BIG EAST record.
The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 6-4-0. Earlier this week the Cardinals rebounded from a loss at Rutgers with a 3-0 shutout against DePaul. Saturday's game will be third game in a week for the Cards. Senior Greg Cochrane leads the team in scoring with four goals and one assist for nine points. Junior Dylan Mares ranks second on the team with three goals and two assists for eight points. Junior Mike Mauro started the last four games for the Cardinals in goal. He owns a 0.75 goals against average with two shutouts and a 3-1-0 record.
Syracuse enters the game with an overall record of 9-3-0. On Wednesday the Orange defeated Rutgers 2-1 in overtime for its ninth win of the season. Syracuse is first in the BIG EAST in points (73) and goals (26) and second in goals per game (2.17). Tony Asante and Jordan Vale lead the team with five goals apiece. Asante leads the team with 13 points while Vale had 11 on the year. Alex Bono leads the team in goal with a 0.66 goals against average with six shutouts and an 8-3-0 record.
Louisville leads the overall series 4-2-1. The Cardinals are 2-1-0 against the Orange on the road. Last season the two teams played to a scoreless tie in Cardinal Park.
