
Kordes Heads to Tucson to Coach A1 Select Team

University of Louisville head volleyball coach Anne Kordes heads to Tucson this week as head coach of the 2011 USA Volleyball High Performance Indoor National Girls' Select A1 Program (GSA1). The U of L assistant volleyball coaches will also be participating as Dani Busboom, will be the USA A2 Select team head coach and Kyle Walton will act as head coach for the Ohio Valley Region Team.
The GSA1 Program constitutes the top level of programming for the Select age group (athletes born in 1996 and 1997. The USA Volleyball High Performance A1 level program is the top level of programming for all age groups without a National Team that will compete internationally.
The Select A1 Program consists of 29 athletes who will attend 10 days of training and competition at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Tucson, Arizona from July 20 - 30, 2011. The group will train together for the first five days and then will break into three tiered teams of 11 athletes to compete in the tournament. The top four players from Dani Busboom's Select A2 Program will join the A1 athletes prior to placement on the teams to complete the 33 athlete program. The teams will compete in the International Youth Division opposing international teams, top Region HP teams and other USAV HP teams. Kyle Walton, U of L assistant coach, will head up the Ohio Valley Region Team and join Kordes in Tucson for the tournament.
The Head Coach for our Girls' Select A1 Program will be Anne Kordes, Head Coach at the University of Louisville and longtime USA Volleyball High Performance coach. Assisting Coach Kordes will be Erin Virtue (University of Michigan), Ted Wade (University of Virginia), Laura Bush (University of Minnesota), Kim Jagd (UCLA), and an additional coach to be announced.
