
Men's Soccer Defeats Evansville 6-0 on Thursday Night

Louisville, Ky. - The Louisville men's soccer team wrapped up the home spring season with a 6-0 win over Evansville on Thursday evening. Colin Rolfe and Dylan Mares led the Cardinals with two goals apiece.
The Cardinal offense clicked early, just three minutes in Nick DeLeon had a shot at the goal but Robert Randant came up with the save. Evansville had a chance to score in the next minute but the Cards' Mike Mauro came up with the save.
Mares struck first for the Cardinals in the seventh minute. Mares took a pass on the right side of the box from Rolfe and knocked it into the left corner. Louisville struck again in the 25th when Mares passed the ball to the right side of the field to Will Vitalis found the left side of the net.
Mares struck again in the 37th minute for the Cardinals. Ryan Smith found Mares inside the box who found the right side of the net. Louisville finished the first half with a 12-3 shot advantage. Evansville finished with three saves while the Cards finished with one.
Rolfe wasted no time in the second half scoring in the first minute. He slipped past a defender and scored on a one-on-one with the keeper. Ten minutes later Rolfe found himself in the same situation to score his second goal of the night.
Chase Rodgers scored the final goal for the Cardinals in the 79th minute. Greg Cochrane crossed the ball in the box to Rodgers, who headed the ball in for the goal. Louisville finished the game with a 22-6 shot advantage and a 5-2 corner kick advantage. Randant finished with four saves.
The Cardinals will wrap up the spring season on Sunday, April 17 against the Columbus Crew at 10:00 a.m.
