
Ijames Named BIG EAST Baseball Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Louisville junior outfielder Stewart Ijames was named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the week ending March 27 as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Ijames (Owensboro, Ky./Owensboro Catholic HS) earned the Player of the Week honor after hitting .438 (7-for-16) with four home runs, 11 RBI, six extra-base hits and a 1.313 slugging percentage to lead the Cardinals to a 3-1 week. He homered in each of Louisville's four games, with his best outing coming in Friday's 11-2 win over Rutgers. The junior finished 3-for-5 in the contest with a home run, two doubles and five RBI. He helped U of L take two of three from Rutgers in the team's conference-opening series. Ijames leads the Cardinals with six home runs and 24 RBI on the year and is hitting .303 overall.
Up next, Louisville (15-8) will open a four-game homestand at Jim Patterson Stadium against non-conference foe Western Kentucky (16-7) on Tuesday at 6 p.m., ET and admission is free. It will be the first of two games between the in-state foes in an eight-day span as the Cardinals will take to the road to face the Hilltoppers on April 5 at 7 p.m., ET at Bowling Green Ballpark, the home of the Class A Bowling Hot Rods, in downtown Bowling Green.
Following Tuesday's game against WKU, the Cardinals will continue BIG EAST Conference action with a three-game home series against West Virginia. The series will open on Friday at 6 p.m., ET and will continue on Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission is free for the entire weekend.
