The end of last fall and the beginning of the spring semester have gone well! Before Christmas break, we all had one last tournament of the fall. Unfortunately, the team had to split up and go to two different tournaments because they were hidden duals.
Sarah, Sonia, and I went to Western Michigan with Stefan. We drove up in this big van and we listened to Stefan's favorite radio, BPM, almost the whole time. During the whole tournament we would be listening to BPM, and the songs were so long that we would always want to change it before it even got to the good part because we were already bored with it.
Stefan just kept telling us: "Don't change it! It's building up, it's coming!" If we weren't listening to BPM we were listening to either Sarah's iPod or my iPod. Amazingly, almost every song that we chose from the iPod, Sonia would scream, "Oh yeah! This is my jam!" We thought it was funny how one person could have so many jams.
The tournament in Florida went well. Julia won singles in Flight 1, Sarah and I won doubles in Flight 3, and Stefanie and Amelia were in the finals of both of their flights when it started raining and the matches got cancelled. We've also had five dual matches so far and we've won them all! Our next match is Friday and we play Akron!
We also had a great time in Florida off the court. We love pranking each other and one day Amelia thought of a prank for Sonia. Julia, Sonia, and I were all in a room together. We had just gotten back from practice and Sonia was in the shower. I was the only other person in the room and I got a text from Amelia that said to text her when Sonia gets in the shower. She hadn't been in for more than a minute, so I texted Amelia.
She said for me to leave the room while she talked to Sonia. All the sudden she knocked on the bathroom door and yelled for Sonia to get out of the shower immediately because Coach had called for a team meeting in five minutes. We all proceeded to run out of the room and into the lobby where we hid behind all the chairs and tables. We waited maybe one minute and all the sudden we see Sonia sprint from the hallway to the lobby and out the door. We all started laughing and ran out the door after her, and the look on her face was priceless.
The day of our first dual match was hilarious. I had just brought my car up from home. Julia, Mandy, Sonia, and I all walked up to it to go to the tennis center. I unlocked the doors, but none of them opened. I rarely have this problem in Georgia, but it's a lot colder in Kentucky and all of my doors were frozen shut. I literally pulled the door with everything I had and it didn't even budge. I finally had the idea that we could get in through the trunk. We all got in through the trunk and climbed over the seat and once everyone was in, I managed to shut the trunk from the inside.
I got into the driver's seat and Julia looked at me with a worried expression and she asked if anyone happened to know how to open the trunk from the inside...We were literally trapped in the car. Sonia figured we could at least drive to the tennis center and maybe the doors would open then. We got to the parking lot, and the doors wouldn't open even when you pushed from the inside. We happened to see Gabi in the parking lot and we tried to call her to come over. All she did was look at us weirdly and wave back. We called her and explained what was happening, but neither Gabi nor Kay knew how to open my trunk. It was quite an interesting start to our season. The season has started really well and we have to keep it up for the rest of it! Holla!
