
Men's Soccer to Host Syracuse Saturday Night

Louisville, Ky. - The No. 11 Louisville men's soccer team will host Syracuse on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7:00 p.m. in Cardinal Park. The Cardinals are coming off a come from behind win at No. 10 Indiana and enter the game with an overall record of 7-3-0 and a BIG EAST record of 0-2-0. Syracuse enters the game with a 2-7-0 record and a BIG EAST record of 0-2-0.
Louisville enters the game ranked 11th in the majority of the polls. The Cardinals are coming off an impressive overtime win at Indiana on Wednesday night. All-American Colin Rolfe leads the team in scoring with 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists). Senior Kenney Walker and Junior Michael Roman also lead the team with three goals. Senior All-American Austin Berry anchors the Cardinal defense which has recorded five shutouts on the year. Senior Andre Boudreaux leads the team in goal with a 0.79 goals against average with 29 saves and five shutouts on the year. Five of the Cards' seven seniors are ranked among Top Drawer Soccer's Top 100 Upperclassmen.
Syracuse enters the game on a five game losing streak, two losses coming in overtime periods. All the Orange losses have been by one goal. Most recently Syracuse fell 2-1 in double overtime at Pittsburgh. Nick Roydhouse leads the team in scoring with six points (2 goals, 2 assists). Two other players have scored two goals for the Orange, Louis Clark and Skylar Thomas. Ted Cribley leads the team in assists with three on the year. Phil Boerger has played every minute in goal for the Orange and owns a 1.72 goals against average. He has also collected 38 saves on the year.
Louisville leads the series 4-2 over Syracuse. Louisville has won four of the last five games against the Orange. The Cards are 2-1 against the Orange in Cardinal Park. Last season Louisville defeated Syracuse 2-1 on the road. The last time the two teams met in Cardinal Park, Louisville defeated Syracuse 4-0 for the shutout.
