The University of Louisville's volleyball team will return to Cardinal Arena and play host to the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
This will be Louisville's seventh BIG EAST contest and enter it on a six game winning streak carrying a record of 14-4 overall and 6-0 in the conference. The Bearcats come to Louisville winning six of their past seven matches with an overall record of 13-7 and a conference record of 6-1. Their lone BIG EAST loss came to Seton Hall, a team that Louisville beat in straight sets this year but lost to a year ago.
Louisville is coming off of a win in straight sets against Rutgers marking the fifth out of six BIG EAST matches that the Cards have won in straight sets. The Bearcats will have to find a solution for Lola Arslanbekova, U of L's not-so-secret weapon. She is ranked No. 2 in the nation in kills per set.
Cincinnati is looking to bounce back after their first conference loss behind Senior Missy Harpenau who leads the team in kills with 254. Freshman Caylin Mahoney leads the team with 754 assists averaging an astounding 10.77 assists per set, and has earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors once already this season. The Bearcats opened the season with three straight losses but have turned it around to go 13-4 since their slow start. Of their five conference wins they have won three in straight sets.
