
Women's Golf Opens Season with Third Place Finish

Ft. Collins, Colo. - The University of Louisville women's golf team finished tied for third in the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic. The Cardinals moved up two spots after shooting a 288 on the final day. Louisville finished the tournament with a score of 867. Idaho won the tournament with a score of 859 while host Colorado State finished second with a score of 863.
Junior Laura Anderson held on to the lead to take medalist honors, winning her first collegiate tournament. Anderson shot a 68 in the final round to finish the tournament a 10 under par with a score of 206. The Kentucky native went birdie, par, birdie, birdie on her last four holes to secure the win.
Three Cardinal players finished the tournament tied at 24th. Junior Sara-Maude Juneau shot a 75 in the final round for a score of 220. Daphne Parker carded a 70 in the final round to finish with a score of 220. Sophomore Maria Castellanos, who competed as an individual, shot a 75 in the final round to finish with a score of 220.
Redshirt freshman Anna-Karin Ljungstrom finished her first tournament tied at 35th. She shot a 76 in the final round for a score of 224. Freshman Candice Wiley finished tied at 61st. She shot a 75 in the final round to move up six spots with a score of 231. Senior Camille Williams, who competed as an individual, shot a 79 in the final round to finish 85th with a score of 247.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Sept. 21-22 as they host the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup at the Cardinal Club. The 12 teams will play 36 holes on the 21st and 18 holes on the 22nd.
