
Men's Soccer Releases 2009 Schedule

Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville head coach Ken Lolla as announced the release of the 2009 Men's Soccer Schedule. The 2009 slate features 10 home games and is highlighted by home games against Kentucky and Indiana.
"It is an exciting and ambitious schedule that will provide us with a great opportunity for growth," said head coach Ken Lolla.
The Cardinals will open up the season with four road games. They will kick off the season on Aug. 22 at Lipscomb before playing Ohio State at a neutral site on Aug. 28. The Cardinals will travel to Lexington, Ky. to play Bowling Green on Sept. 4 and IUPUI on Sept. 6 at the UK Tournament before heading home.
Louisville will host the U of L Invitational in their home opener on Sept. 11 as Kentucky plays UIC at 5:00 p.m. and Louisville will host SIU Edwardsville at 7:30 p.m. Kentucky will then play SIU Edwardsville on Sept. 13 at 2:00 p.m. and Louisville will host UIC at 5:00 p.m.
The Cardinals will kick off BIG EAST action on Sept. 18 against West Virginia in Cardinal Park at 7:00 p.m. Then on Sept. 20 the Cardinals will host Pittsburgh at 1:00 p.m. League play continues with two games on the road, at Notre Dame on Sept. 25 and at Marquette on Sept. 27. They will wrap up the three game road stint at DePaul on Oct. 3.
Louisville will then have a three game home stand beginning on Oct. 7 with South Florida at 7:00 p.m. The Cards will then host Syracuse on Oct. 10 at 7:00 p.m. before taking a break from league play to host instate rival Kentucky on Oct. 14 at 7:00 p.m.
The Cards will travel to St. John's on Oct. 17 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Then Louisville will return to the friendly confines of Cardinal Park for another three game stint. The Cardinals will host national power Indiana on Oct. 21 at 7:00 p.m. before returning to league play against Rutgers on Oct. 24. Louisville will host Cincinnati for senior day on Oct. 28 at 7:00 p.m. The regular season will wrap up on the road at Villanova on Oct. 31 at 1:00 p.m.
The BIG EAST Conference Championship will take place Nov. 4-7 at home sites with the Final Four competing Nov. 13-15 in Morgantown, W.Va.
The Cardinals return eight starters from a last season which finished the season with an 11-8-2 record, tying the school record for most wins. The Cardinals also spent most of the season in the Top 25, earning their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
