PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. - Sunday's Louisville-Villanova baseball series finale at Villanova Ballpark was cancelled due to heavy rain moving through the northeastern U.S., and the game will not be rescheduled.
This is Louisville's second rainout of the season as the Cardinals' March 31 game at Purdue was also cancelled due to rain.
On Saturday, the Cardinals (32-13) clinched their fifth conference series win and their seventh series victory overall this season by finishing Friday's suspended game with a 10-4 win and by rolling to a 9-2 triumph in Saturday's regularly-scheduled game. Louisville currently stands alone in second place in the BIG EAST standings at 14-6 with two series remaining. The Cards will finish their BIG EAST scheduled at third place St. John's on May 8-10 and at home against first place South Florida on May 14-16.
Up next, Louisville will return home to host two mid-week games against Ohio State on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET, and Wednesday at noon at Jim Patterson Stadium.
