Eugene, Ore. - Louisville's Sara-Maude Juneau and Cindy LaCrosse made the cut after two round in the US Women's Amateur on Tuesday evening. Because of a playoff to determine the final spot in the field of 64 the match play pairings will be determined in the morning.
Juneau finished the two rounds tied for sixth after carding a 69 in the second round. She finished the first day shooting a 74 and had a score of 143 after stroke play. LaCrosse finished the two rounds tied at 19th after carding a 72 in the second round. LaCrosse shot a 74 in the first round and finished stroke play with a score of 146. Incoming freshman Maria Castellanos missed the cut of 64, finishing with a score of 162.
Four players will be coming back to Eugene Country Club Wednesday morning at 7:30 to determine the 64th and final match-play spot. The first match will be scheduled to go off at 9:30 a.m. PDT.
Match play is a competition played by holes rather than total strokes for the round. Two opponents will play against each other and while there may be other players on the course, each group is its own match and has nothing to do with the rest of the field. The winners of each match keep advancing until there is only one player left.
