The University of Louisville volleyball team, defending regular season BIG EAST co-champions, will be fighting to preserve their home court winning streak that is currently 25 matches long dating back to the sixth match of 2006.
The Cards, defending NCAA blocking champions, will open their schedule August 30 when they meet Indiana State at 7 p.m. in Cardinal Arena. Season tickets are on sale now at the U of L ticket office.
The Cardinals, who made their 18th NCAA appearance last year, will be road warriors in the month of September. U of L will be away for 11 straight matches after the home opener. Trips to the Indiana University Invitational, the Chicago Invitational and the Dayton Invitational will allow the Cardinals to face opponents that, if beaten, will increase RPI standings out of conference. Chief among these strong non-league matchups will be facing defending national champion Penn State on a neutral court in Chicago.
U of L re-opens its home block party Oct. 4-5 when travel partners Notre Dame and DePaul visit respectively. Villanova, Seton Hall, South Florida and Rutgers are the BIG EAST opponents slated to visit Cardinal Arena. The Cardinals will also play the OVC Champion the Saturday after Thanksgiving to stay warmed up for the NCAA's during the holiday break.
