
Cards To Hold First Official Practice Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville baseball team will hold their first official team practice on Friday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium as they prepare for the 2008 season opener on February 22 against Cleveland State at 2:00 p.m. ET. Admission to all home games is free.
The team will stretch at 2:00 p.m. ET Friday and practice will follow. The team is scheduled to scrimmage on Saturday at 11:30 and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Patterson Stadium. All UofL baseball practices in the stadium are open to the public. Fans can enter at the main gates at Patterson Stadium on the corner of Third and Central.
In the event of inclement weather, the team has the option to practice in their indoor facilities at the Shad Mason Hack Shack, the indoor cages and weight room in the baseball complex or the Trager Center.
The Cardinals, who won a school record 47 games in 2007 and advanced to the College World Series in Omaha, were recently ranked 25th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, making it the fourth preseason poll in which the Cardinals are ranked. U of L was ranked 22nd by Rivals.com and 23rd in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers and Collegiate Baseball polls.
The Cardinals were ranked as high as sixth to end last season, the highest ranking in school history.
Dan McDonnell, 2007 Rivals.com National Coach of the Year will begin his second season with the Cardinals.
The team will also be signing autographs in the lobby of Freedom Hall prior to the men's basketball game Saturday against Rutgers.
The Cards will host their 2008 Leadoff Dinner, featuring White Sox outfielder Nick Swisher and Mariners pitcher and former Cardinal Sean Green, in the South Wing of the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center on Friday, February 8, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. sponsored by Republic Bank and UBS.
