Louisville, Ky. - The 2007 University of Louisville men's soccer schedule features six teams on its 18-game slate that competed in the 2006 NCAA Championship. Highlighting the schedule is Final Four participant Wake Forest, Elite Eight participant Notre Dame and national power Indiana.
"Our schedule is once again one of the toughest in the country," said Head Coach Ken Lolla. "The Big East always provides you with a very competitive conference schedule and this year we have added Final Four participant Wake Forest along with our annual meeting with Indiana. The challenging schedule should help us prepare to meet our goal in postseason play."
The Cardinals will compete in an exhibition game at Evansville on Aug. 18 and then host Oakland in its final exhibition game on Aug. 26 in Cardinal Park at 7:00 p.m.
The Cardinals will kick off the regular season at a tournament in Memphis. The Cards will play host Memphis on Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. and then play Oral Roberts on Sept. 2 at 5:00 p.m. Louisville will face instate rival Kentucky in Lexington on Sept.6 at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals will then travel to Marshall for a Sept.9 matchup. Wraping up the five game road trip, Louisville will face 2006 NCAA Final Four participant Wake Forest on Sept. 15 at 1:00 p.m.
Louisville will kick off the home schedule as the host Seton Hall on Sept. 21 at 7:00 p.m. and then Georgetown on Sept. 23 at Noon in Cardinal Park. The Cards' home schedule also features Indiana on Oct. 10 at 7:00 p.m. along with Cincinnati on Oct. 17 at 7:00 p.m. Syracuse, Rutgers, and Ohio State wrap up the Louisville home schedule.
Louisville will continue BIG EAST action on the road against Marquette on Sept. 28, Notre Dame on Sept. 30, St. John's on Oct. 13 , DePaul on Oct. 24, and Villanova on Nov. 3.
Lolla returns eight starters from the 2006 season which doubled its BIG EAST win total from the previous season to finish with a 4-5-1 record. Louisville also qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament, making its first league tournament appearance in three seasons.
