LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Lexington Tates Creek pitcher Alex Blodgett and Fort Wayne, Indiana Homestead High School infielder Ryan Wright have signed national letters of intent to play baseball for the University of Louisville, joining Mike Nastold, Jake Odorizzi and Derek Self. The two signees are part of the 2008-09 early signing period and will be on campus next fall and eligible to compete in the spring of 2009.

A 6'4" senior has been ranked as the 177th prospect in the country by Perfect Game, which rates him a 9.5 on a scale to 10 that evaluates a player's potential. A solid student in the classroom, he has earned five letters in baseball entering his senior season with the Commodores. Struck out 50 while posting a 4-3 record as a junior. Was also recruited by LSU, Ole Miss, Arizona and Miami (Fla.).

Fort Wayne, Indiana/Homestead HS
A First Team All-State honoree as a junior, Wright set a new school record with 10 home runs, also breaking the career record with 20 through his first three seasons of baseball. Has twice been team MVP and First Team All-Conference. Batted .452 with 27 RBI to go with his 10 jacks his junior season. A talented two sport athlete, he was twice named First Team All-Conference while playing receiver, safety and returning punts and kickoffs for the Spartans football team.
