LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville baseball team will hold an intrasquad scrimmage on Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium, preceding the Cardinal football game against Utah. The full-length scrimmage will be free and open to the public.
The Cardinal Nine, which played in the College World Series last spring, will also be honored between the first and second quarters at the football game, which will kick off at 8:00 p.m.
The Cards bring back 17 players from last season, including BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year Zack Pitts and Freshman of the Year Justin Marks, as well as Columbia Regional MVP third baseman Chris Dominguez and All-BIG EAST Second Team catcher Derrick Alfonso.
Head Coach Dan McDonnell, the first rookie skipper in 27 years to take his team to Omaha and 2007 Rivals.com Coach of the Year, joined assistant coaches Chris Lemonis and Roger Williams in signing multi-year contract extensions this past summer.
Louisville finished the 2007 season with a school record 47 wins and a top ten ranking.
The Louisville baseball team and coaching staff will also be holding a camp for high school aged baseball players on October 6 and 7. For more information, you can call the baseball office at 502.852.1217.
