LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Junior infielders Greg Del George of Vanderbilt and Justin McClanahan of Northwest-Shoals Community College, and Kyle Hollander, a senior pitcher from Oklahoma State, will transfer to the University of Louisville, joining the baseball team this fall.
Del George, a switch-hitter from Staten Island, New York has seen limited action in two seasons with the Commodores after redshirting his first season in 2004.
He was drafted by the White Sox in the 46th round of the 2003 MLB Draft after completing his prep career at Monsignor Farrell High School where he was twice named the Defensive Player of the Year in leading the Lions to consecutive Staten Island championships.
His father was head baseball coach at St. Francis(NY) College. Del George is playing summer ball for the Metro NY Cadets in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League.
McClanahan, a right-handed hitter from Annapolis, Maryland who can also play the outfield and catch, hit a school-record 18 home runs last season, ranking him fourth in NJCAA Division I baseball. He batted .410 with 13 doubles, 57 runs, 59 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 52 games last season for the Patriots on his way to All-Conference and All-District honors. He established school career records for home runs (25) and hits (139) at NWSCC, and ranks 2nd all-time in at bats (345), runs (107), doubles (29), and RBI (105).
He was twice named Maryland Player of the Year, leading Riverdale Baptist to four straight Maryland private school state championships during his prep career.
McClanahan is currently playing for Youse's Maryland Orioles of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate baseball League and is batting .270 with 17 runs, five doubles, two triples, three home runs, 15 RBI, 17 walks and three steals in 34 games.
Hollander, a right-hander from Lawton, Oklahoma also saw limited action with the Cowboys, ,making just seven appearances in 2006. As a sophomore at Odessa College he tallied 11 saves, striking out 40 over 34.0 IP.
As a freshman at Hutchinson Community College, Hollander garnered all-conference honors, notching 11 saves.
He was a four-year letterwinner at Eisenhower High School in Lawton.
Hollander is currently playing in the Texas Collegiate League for the Denton Outlaws where he has an ERA of 2.81 and one save in 15 outings. He has fanned 12 in 16.0 IP.
Last season Louisville was runner-up in the 2006 BIG EAST Championship, posting a 31-29 overall record. Dan McDonnell, former recruiting coordinator and top assistant coach at Mississippi begins his first season as head coach of the Cardinals.
