Louisville, Ky. - The Louisville men's soccer team wrapped up the spring season with an undefeated record of 2-0-3. First team All-BIG EAST performer David Guzman led the Cardinals with four goals in five games.
"We made significant gains this spring and have developed some momentum," said head coach Ken Lolla. "We were pleased with the results and were more encouraged with the overall changes that we made to improve as a team. We anticipate making more gains this summer and creating more momentum leading into a successful fall."
The Cardinals started off the spring season at Dayton, finishing in a 1-1 tie. Louisville then returned home to defeat Evansville 2-1 and Northern Kentucky 3-2. In the next game the Cardinals played to a 1-1 draw with Saint Louis. The Cardinals wrapped up the spring season with another 1-1 draw with Wright State.
"David Guzman was certainly our most dangerous player," said Lolla. "He had a very good spring and continues to grow as a player and a team leader. Ryan Meyer has anchored the defense and has also developed into a leadership role. Gerard Voutier was solid this spring and has gained confidence after a fall of battling injuries."
Louisville will open up the fall season on Friday, Aug. 25 against Memphis at 7:00 p.m. in Cardinal Park.
