ATHENS, Ga. - University of Georgia designated hitter Matt Robbins was 4 for 4 with two home runs and five RBI to lead the Bulldogs to an 11-0 win over the University of Louisville Sunday to complete a series sweep.
Georgia (11-2) number nine hitter Matthew Dunn drew a leadoff walk in the third, and leadoff man Joey Side drilled an 0-1 pitch over the fence in right for a 2-0 Bulldog lead.
Dunn's two-out RBI single to center scored Robbins to make it 3-0 Dogs.
The first six batters in the Georgia fifth reached base, with Robbins capping the sequence with his first career grand slam upping the UGA lead to 9-0.
Robbins and Beckham hit back-to-back home runs to open the seventh to close the scoring.
Bulldog freshman Trevor Holder, making his first career start retired the first 11 he faced before Logan Johnson was hit by a pitch in the fourth.
Holder (1-0) tossed six shutout innings, allowing three hits and a hit batter, while fanning three in the win.
Cardinal starter B.J. Rosenberg (1-3) took the loss, surrendering six runs on nine hits and three walks in four innings. He struck out two. Brian Halford gave up five runs on seven hits and a walk in three innings of relief, fanning one.
Griffin Bailey gave up a hit and struck out two in an inning of work.
Jason Leaver struck out three and retired all six he faced in two innings, while closer Joshua Fields got in some work, giving up a hit and a walk, striking out two in the ninth.
The Cardinals are scheduled to travel to Evansville, Indiana to face the Aces on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. ET, before hosting Ball State the following weekend for a four game series at Jim Patterson Stadium.
