MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Anna Sawicki's header in the 84th minute helped Marquette to a 1-0 win over the 17th-ranked Louisville women's soccer team Sunday afternoon.
Marquette controlled play in the first 45 minutes, outshooting the Cardinals (11-3-1, 6-3-0 BIG EAST) 8-1, but junior keeper Joanna Haig made four saves to keep the game scoreless.
Shots evened up in the final stanza, with each team logging five, but it was the Eagles (7-5-4, 5-3-1 BIG EAST) final shot of the match that was the difference.
Katie Kelley served a corner kick into the box where Sawicki rattled it in off the post for the game winner.
U of L was without a corner kick in the match, while UM had four.
Louisville will wrap up the regular season next weekend when they travel to New Jersey to face Seton Hall Friday at 3:00 p.m. ET and Rutgers on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
