The University of Louisville women's tennis team moved up to No. 68 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings this week for its fourth straight week in the top 75.
The Cardinals, 13-5, are coming off an upset win over Ohio State last weekend, beating the No. 66 Buckeyes 4-3 for the first-ever win over OSU. The ranking is tied for the highest for the Cardinals since Jan. 29, 2003 when U of L was No. 68.
"We pleased to be in the ranking for the fourth straight week," said Greg Davis. "We had a great opportunity against two great teams last weekend. We were motivated because we seemed stuck at No. 75. I told them if we want to move up we have to do something about it and the team responded to the challenge."
The Cardinals return to action in Bass-Rudd Tennis Center this Thursday when Xavier (2 p.m.) and Morehead State (7 p.m.) visit.
"We are pleased to move up to No. 68. I can't tell you how hard they've worked and our goal is to continue to move up and improve each match."
