The University of Louisville takes its 6-1 record on the road this weekend when it travels to Huntington, W.V. to face nationally ranked Marshall and ACC power North Carolina State.
The Cardinals play Marshall at 5 p.m. Feb. 4 in Huntington and then play North Carolina State at a neutral site at Marshall at 1 p.m. Saturday.
"We have two very difficult matches on the road this weekend," said U of L head coach Greg Davis. "We face nationally ranked Marshall and ACC power North Carolina State. This is a good gauge of how our season will go. Both opponents are very strong. We are looking forward to competing against them."
The Cardinals are coming off a strong weekend when they had four wins including three sweeps that raised their record to 6-1. U of L has been playing well at both doubles and singles, which pleases Davis.
"February is a very difficult month for us. We have these two tough opponents and then we host Middle Tennessee State, a regional powerhouse with a strong tradition and New Mexico, probably the best team will we face all year coming up the next weekend.
The Cardinals have had back-to-back Conference Players of the Week in Kelly Taylor and Natalie Laszkowski which is a first for the Cardinal program. Laszkowski and Taylor also happen to be doubles partners and swept three of their four opponents last weekend.
