The University of Louisville No. 75-ranked women's tennis team has three matches this weekend with Arkansas-Little Rock and West Virginia visiting Friday at 1 and 7:30 p.m. respectively. Eastern Michigan is on tap for Sunday at 12:30 with all three matches being hosted at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"We have three tough opponents this weekend," said U of L head coach Greg Davis, whose squad posts an 8-3 record. UALR returns a veteran team and will be a handfull for us. WVU is a future Big East opponent that has already beaten two Conference USA teams in ECU and Cincinnati. Eastern Michigan is a perennial contender in the MAC."
The Cardinals are coming off a split last weekend when they beat Middle Tennessee, a team that has traditionally edged U of L. The Cardinal fell to No. 23 ranked New Mexico in a hard-fought 4-3 decision that included a U of L win in the doubles point.
"WVU's coach Dan Silverstein and Eastern Michigan's coach Tim Gray are personal friends of mine, creating a little healthy rivalry between our squads. Both teams are outstandingly coached and are the type of teams that when you lace it up against them you have to take the match from them, they aren't going to give an inch."
