
Men's Soccer Awards Announced

Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville men's soccer head coach Tony Colavecchia handed out the 2003 season awards at the annual banquet. Senior defender Adrian Cann was named the team MVP. Cann became the first All-American for the program and is currently playing for the Colorado Rapids in the MLS. He was taken in the second round by the Rapids and became the first Louisville player to be drafted.
Senior forward Simon Bird earned Offensive MVP honors. Bird was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year. Sophomore Matt Neely was named Defensive MVP. Neely earned third team All-Conference USA honors this season.
Junior Devin Matthews was named Most Dedicated. Matthews has been a regular in the Cardinal lineup the last three seasons and has played midfield and back. Freshman Ryan Meyer was named Most Improved. Meyer made an impact his freshman season, starting in the Cardinal backfield.
Bo Schneider earned the Academic Award for the Cardinals. Schneider earned the award for the second straight season. The Coaches Award went to senior David Gisler. He was honored for his contributions both on and off the field for the Louisville men's soccer program.
