
Softball Beats Kent State

Shortstop Courtney Moore went three for four with three runs and a pair of RBIs to help the University of Louisville to a 12-4 win over Kent State at the Courtyard Marriott East Tournament Saturday at Ulmer Stadium.
"I was pleased with our hitting, again we were able to generate a lot of hits," said Sandy Pearsall. "As with all coaches, I still see things that we need to fix and do better. All in all it was a good day for us on the field."
Freshman pitcher Kady Garrick pitched a complete game six hitter, giving up four runs on four hits and struck out ten. She moves to 8-2 for the season. Kent State starter Kate Leary gave up seven of the Cardinals' 16 hits was tagged with the loss. She now posts a 2-1 mark.
Trailing 3-2 going into the top of the third, the Cardinals put up a three spot in the third. Moore led off the inning with a sinble and then scored on a double by Lisa Estes. An Aja Sherman double scored Estes and Sara Bausher.
The Cardinals added one insurance run each in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. Then in the top of the seventh, the Cardinals scored four with two outs to seal the win.
For the Cardinals, Sara Bausher went three for four and Shannon Nord was two for four with two RBIs in the winning effort.
The Golden Flashes were led by Marci Ridenbaugh's two hit, one RBI performance.
