Tennessee-Martin responded in the top of the second when Sarah Daws reached on a fielder's choice and moved to second on an error. Christa Webb reached on a fielder's choice and Jennifer Young drew a walk to load the bases. Brandy Whalen's fielder's choice brought Daws home and a Cardinal error scored Webb to make it a 4-2 game.
U of L added another run in the second when Jenn Skaggs singled to lead off the inning, moved to second on Audrey Rendon's hit and scored on a single by Michelle Vasquez to increase the lead to 5-2.

Nord moved to third on a hit by Rendon and scored on Amy Summers' single. Courtney Moore's base hit brought Rendon home. Summers crossed the plate on a single by Lacy Wood to make the score 10-2.
Louisville capped off the scoring in the fourth when Skaggs doubled, moved to third when Nord reached on an error and scored on Rendon's infield single. Rendon moved to second on a fielder's choice, took third on an error and scored on another Skyhawk miscue to make it a 12-2 game.
U of L starter Aja Sherman (2-1) picked up the win, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and striking out six in five innings. Offensively Cardinals pounded out 16 hits in the contest. Rendon was a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI. Bausher was 2-for-3 with two RBI's and a run. Skaggs was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. Moore and Wood were each 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI's apiece.
"I was pleased with our offense," said Sandy Pearsall. "Anytime you get the kind of offense that generates 16 hits, you have to be happy. Our young infield made a few mistakes that I wish they wouldn't, but they made up for it with their bats."
Tennessee-Martin starter Megan Mizell (2-2) took the loss, allowing 10 runs, nine of them earned, on 12 hits in 2.2 innings. Fallon Lowery was 2-for-2 to lead the Skyhawks offensively. UT-Martin falls to 7-6 on the season.
The Cardinals (14-6) will open Conference USA play with No. 22 South Florida on Saturday, March 13 at Ulmer Stadium. The first game of the doubleheader is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
