Softball Shuts Out North Carolina State 2-0

Raleigh, N.C. - - The University of Louisville softball team closed the first day of the North Carolina Triangle Classic with a 2-0 win over North Carolina State Friday.
The Cards jumped to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Sara Bausher drew a walk, took second on Lacy Wood's walk and scored when Courtney Moore reached on an error.
Louisville added another run in the sixth when Moore walked to lead off the inning, moved to second on Alma Navarrete's single and scored on a passed ball to give the Cards a 2-0 lead.
U of L starter Kady Garrick (2-1) picked up the win, allowing two hits and striking out three in five innings. Catherine Bishop combined with Garrick for the shutout and got the save, holding the Wolfpack hitless and striking out three in two innings.
Offensively, Wood, Navarrete and Audrey Rendon accounted for the Cards' three hits.

"In the second game, things started to come together defensively for us," said Louisville head coach Sandy Pearsall. "We still need to get our offense going, but we are happy to come away with two wins."
U of L (3-3) will play Purdue Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
