Men's tennis results from adidas Invitational
The University of Louisville men's tennis team traveled to Peachtree City, Georgia to compete in the adidas Invitational Sept. 26-28. The tournament also includes payers from Arizona State, Duke, Florida, Northwestern, Notre Dame, TCU and Wisconsin.
The Cards suffered two losses in the opening round of doubles as TCU Fabrizio Sestine and Rafael Abreu defeated Jeremy Clark and Mark Kennedy 8-4 and second-seeded Luis Haddock and Matt Scott of Notre Dame defeated Octavian Nicodim and Damar Johnson 8-6.
In singles action, Louisville's Matt Mayer defeated Tennessee's Jimmy Thornton 6-1, 6-1. Nicodim defeated Duke's Peter Rodrigues 6-4, 6-3. The Cardinals' Johnson topped Scott Green of Wisconsin 6-4, 7-5 and went on to beat Tennessee's Rawl Martin 6-2, 6-4 in the round of 16.
Nick Hegarty of Arizona State outlasted Jeremy Clark 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. TCU's Daniel Scholte edged Jhonny Berrido 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Northwestern's Thomas Hanus defeated Jonathan Howard 6-1, 6-4
"Adidas invited the top schools they sponsor to play in this elite-level tournament," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "We love to play the best competition and we are having fun."
