
Final Results from Louisville Men's Tennis Fall Invitational

Oct. 5, 2003 The 2003 Louisville Men's Tennis Fall Invitational came to a close Sunday and, for the second consecutive year the `A' singles final consisted of two U of L players.
In this year's battle of the Cardinals, sophomore Jakob Gustafsson defeated teammated Jeremy Clark 6-3, 6-3 in the `A' singles finals of the Louisville Fall Invitational. Earlier in the day, the team of Gustafsson and Clark was edged by DePaul's George Wang and Mark Henderson 9-8 (7-0) in the `A' doubles semifinals.
Gustaffson's singles win capped a 5-0 singles run in the tournament. Clark went 4-1 in the invitational.
"Sophomore Jakob Gustafsson has asserted himself to be a significant player for the U of L tennis team," said Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma. "He has improved greatly since coming to Louisville last fall and I have a feeling we will be hearing a lot from him as his career goes on."
The Cardinals will be back in action Oct. 23 at the Omni Midwest Regional Championships in Lansing, Mich.
