EAST LANSING, Mich. - - University of Louisville sophomores Jakob Gustafsson and Jhonny Berrido advanced to the main draw of the Omni Orrington Midwest Regional Tennis Qualifying draw Friday in East Lansing, Mich.

Gustafsson defeated Ball State's Paul Newman 6-3, 6-2, Ohio State's Scott Green 7-5, 6-2 to get to the round of 16, where he beat Dayton's Rob Altenau 6-2, 6-7(3) 6-4.

Berrido topped Marquette's Eigitas Vedrickas 6-4, 6-2 and Eastern Illinois' Brandon Blankenbaker 6-3, 6-1 to reach the round of 16, where he defeated Indiana's Tom Bagnato 6-4, 6-3.

Louisville freshman Jonathan Howard defeated Northern Illinios' Aaron Fosberg 6-2, 7-6(3) and Indiana's Neil Kenner 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 before falling to Michigan's Ryan Heller 6-2, 6-1 in the round of 16.

Sophomore Jeremy Clark defeated Bradley's Will Lofgren 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 and lost to Michigan's Carey Rubin 6-1, 6-4 in the second round.
