
Softball Shuts Out Southern Miss 2-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball defeated Southern Miss 2-0 Sunday at Ulmer Stadium in a Conference USA contest. It marks the first time in league history that the Cards have won the three-game series with Southern Miss.
The Cardinals scored the only runs of the game in the third inning when Aja Sherman singled to lead off the inning and moved to third on a double by Shannon Nord. A triple by Nicole Sparks scored Sherman and Nord to make it a 2-0 game.
Louisville starter Krystle Herold (3-5) picked up the complete game shutout, allowing four hits and striking out three. Offensively, U of L had five hits. Sherman finished the game 2-for-2.
Southern Miss starter Danielle Dyer (4-8) took the loss, allowing two earned runs on five hits and striking out one in six innings. The Golden Eagles fall to 15-19 (3-6).
Louisville (14-13, 6-2) will face C-USA opponent UAB in a three-game series with starting Tuesday, April 1 at Ulmer Stadium at 2.p.m.
