Chicago, Ill. - The University of Louisville's men soccer fell to DePaul 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Wish Field. The game was the third road game in one week for the Cardinals. Louisville falls to 6-5 on the season and 2-2 in league play.
"It was a very disappointing outcome," said head coach Tony Colavecchia. "It was very unfortunate for the game to be settled on a penalty kick in the final minutes of the game. A draw would have been a fair outcome. It has been a challenging three game road stretch and hopefully we can bounce back against Ohio State on Wednesday night."
The game was scoreless heading into the final 10 minutes of play. The officials then called a handball on the Cardinals which resulted in a DePaul penalty kick. The Blue Demon's Luke Rojo scored the winning goal at the 80:11 minute mark with a penalty kick.
DePaul held a 6-4 shot advantage over the Cardinals. Cardinal keeper Brad Sokolowski collected one save for the game.
Louisville will host Ohio State Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7:00 p.m. in Cardinal Park.
