LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville's women's tennis team broke into the national rankings with a No. 68 spot in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's poll. Louisville is one of three teams that was not ranked in the pre-season poll to make it in to the Top 75 in this first week.
Only Colorado at No. 62 and Florida at No. 75 were newcomers to the poll. Conference foe Tulane (No .41) is the only other C-USA team in the poll.
"We are extremely pleased to get a national ranking, " said Greg Davis, first year head women's coach. "It shows that people around the country are noticing our improvement in the program and we are ecstatic over it. We feel that the best is ahead of us and yet to come. We are focusing on our upcoming matches. This is a tremendous boost for our players as we go into this weekend's matches. "
The Cardinals play Tennessee-Chattanooga on Friday, Jan. 31 at 4 p.m. and Arkansas State at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
