LOUISVILLE, KY - The University of Louisville baseball team has announced its 2003 schedule. The Cards will open up with a 10-game homestand that begins February 21 at 3:00 p.m. against Northern Illinois. Louisville will then travel to Knoxville for a pair against perennial power Tennessee.
Louisville's conference season will open on the road at Memphis on March 14 in a three game series that will be played in AutoZone Park, the downtown home of the AAA Memphis Redbirds. The Cards will twice travel to Texas, facing Houston and wrapping up the regular season at TCU May 15. The Conference USA Tournament will be played in New Orleans, LA May 21-25.
The Cards set a school record for wins with 39 last year, in reaching the NCAA Regionals for the first time in school history. Cardinal Head Coach Lelo Prado, who was named Conference USA coach of the year and lead the USA Baseball National Team over the summer, returns 15 players off last season's team that placed second in C-USA.
