Bloomington, Ind. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team fell 2-0 to No. 9 Indiana on Tuesday night in Bill Armstrong Stadium. The Cardinals fall to 2-3 on the season while the Hoosiers improve to 2-1-2.
"I thought in the first half that Indiana had their way with us," said head coach Tony Colavecchia. "I thought in the second half you saw a different Louisville team. This is an intimidating place to play but I thought we were just as good in the second half.
"I am disappointed with the 2-0 score, I thought we gave up a sloppy goal. But overall I was proud of the team effort."
The Cardinals came out stronger in the second half, holding off the Indiana offense until the 75th minute of play when IU's Pat Noonan headed the ball in the far post off a cross from Brian Plotkin.
The Hoosiers ended the first half with a 1-0 advantage. In the 15th minute, Indiana senior John Swann headed the ball in off of a corner kick. The Cardinal defense hung tough, with Cardinal keeper David Gisler collecting four saves in the first half.
The Cardinals will have 10 days off before traveling to Evansville to face No. 6 South Carolina in the Pro-Rehab Aces Classic.
